STAR SPIN Postdoctoral Position

The University of Kentucky Physics Department invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the nuclear group that is involved with the spin program at the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The primary focus of the STAR UK group is the measurement of the jet, photon and hadron spin asymmetries that facilitate the extraction of the gluon component of the proton spin. An ideal candidate will have the ability to lead and complete an independent data analysis and enjoy working in a large collaboration. Direct experience with spin analysis or previous involvement with RHIC is not required, but strong programming skills (C++, ROOT) and familiarity with simulation packages (PYTHIA/HERWIG + GEANT) is considered a plus. A PhD in experimental nuclear or particle physics is required. Interested candidates should send a cover letter indicating research interests and experience, a CV and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to Renee Fatemi:
