Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics
Ohio University
The medium energy physics group at Ohio University seeks an outstanding
individual with expertise in experimental physics using few GeV electron
and photon beams. The OU group has a long-standing commitment in
Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Laboratory (TJNAF)
and also has significant commitments at other facilities in Japan.
The candidate should have experience with analysis of reactions
that probe the structure of the nucleon and be willing to develop
new ideas and proposals that will further probe this non-perturbative
range of QCD. Experience with GEANT simulations and demonstrated
computational skills is highly desired. Familiarity with hardware
aspects of particle detectors is a definite plus.
The successful candidate will take up residence near to TJNAF and
will support the Ohio experimental group through on-site contributions
to the development of the CLAS12 detector as well as analysis and
publication of existing data as part of the CLAS Collaboration.
Inquiries and applications, including CV, list of
publications, and a brief list of research and interests
should be emailed to Ken Hicks at hicks@ohio.edu or by mail to
Department of Physics & Astronomy, Ohio University, Athens, OH 45701.
Letters of reference may be sent (email or mail) to the same address.
We seek a candidate with a commitment in working effectively with students,
faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. Ethnic minorities and
other underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Ohio University is an AA/EO employer.
